Paul Cooper's early sculpture was highly influenced by plant form and structure, in particular the geometry and mathematics associated with leaf arrangement and the geology of the landscape. Gallery work lead to invitations to create site-specific works culminating in the 'Two Circles in a Stone Bridge' dry-stone wall sculpture which signalled his interest in landscape and garden design. Recent work has seen a fusion between garden and sculpture – outdoor installations that have included living plants. |

An installation designed for the Marston & Langinger Conservatory garden. Inspired by the 'Wardian Case', the glass boxes, open only at their base, sit in pools of water. Each contains a Papyrus. Concealed pumps project a fine mist up into the cases to create a micro-climate capable of sustaining the tropical marshland plant. |
